BIC owns and operates a number of Sites. While it is impossible to list all of the cookies used on each of these Sites, these cookies can be arranged in the following categories:
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential to enable a User to move around a Site and use its features. Without these cookies, services that the User has asked for cannot be provided.
Customer Preference Cookies
These cookies enable a Site to remember a preference or choice that a User makes, such as location and language. This saves time for the User, eliminating the need to manually enter the same information at each visit.
Functionality Cookies
Some cookies are necessary to manage Users across several Sites or subdomains, or to manage shopping cart content if any. They may be used in connection with the “share” functionality with social media sites or applications such as Facebook and Twitter.
Performance cookies
Performance cookies collect information about how Users use a Site. They allow BIC to recognize each separate User’s device, so that it can count the number of Users, and see how Users move around a Site. BIC uses this information to understand what portions of a Site are more relevant to its Users and to make improvements. The data is aggregated, which means BIC cannot identify a particular User.
Marketing Cookies
Marketing Cookies are used to identify how a User is reaching a Site. This information helps gauge the relevance and effectiveness of BIC’s marketing.
Third Party Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies and services are used to measure and analyze how Users are using a Site. These cookies are managed by BIC’s analytics service providers. They are used to collect each User’s truncated IP address, information about how a User uses a Site, or measure traffic data. These cookies collect information such as the number of Users on a Site, where Users come from before landing on a Site, the pages they visit, how long they stay on a specific page or specific Site.
BIC’s primary analytics service is Google Analytics, operated by Google, Inc. Information generated by the Google Analytics cookies is transmitted to and stored by Google, Inc. on servers located in the United States. Google uses this information to evaluate each User’s use of a Site, compile reports on website browsing activity, and provide other services relating to Site activity and Internet usage. View Google’s privacy policy.
You can opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics in the future by downloading and installing Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for your current web browser. Read more about this installation.
Advertising Cookies
A Site may display advertisements or other postings that are operated by third parties, such as ad networks. These service providers may use cookies and digital markers to help manage our advertising programs. When this functionality is used and a User visits other websites, the advertising cookie causes the User to be served an advertisement for BIC on that other website.
You can opt-out of network advertising programs that track your activities across multiple websites to deliver personalized advertising content to you, by visiting the following websites:

In the U.S.: http://www.aboutads.info/choices/

Video Cookies
The videos embedded in our Sites are stored with third party service providers such as You Tube or Vimeo, Third party digital markers from these service providers enable visitors to see and interact with these videos. BIC has no contract over these digital markers; their use is subject to the privacy policy of the respective service providers.
Local Shared Objects
Local Shared Objects, or “flash cookies,” are used to store the User’s preferences and settings, such as volume or mute settings, and in connection with animated content.
Local Shared Objects are similar to browser cookies, but can store data more complex than simple text. By themselves, they cannot do anything to, or with, the data on a User’s computer. Like other cookies, they can only access personally identifiable information that you have provided on a Site, and cannot be accessed by other websites.
Find out more about flash cookies or how to disable them.
Pixel Tags
BIC Sites use pixel tags (also known as web beacons or clear gifs), which are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, that are placed in the code of a webpage. Tags are used to understand Users’ traffic in order to measure the effectiveness of content on a Site, improve the performance of a Site and the User’s experience.
BIC uses pixel tags to monitor the traffic patterns on a Site, to understand how a User came to a Site (e.g. from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website) and how the User uses the Site, or determine which BIC emails the User has opened.
General Information about Cookies
Cookies can be categorized in several ways:
Session Cookies exist only for the length of time that a User spends on a Site, while the User is reading and navigating the Site. When the User closes his browser, all Session Cookies are automatically deleted.
Persistent Cookies remain in the browser, and are not deleted after the browser is closed. A persistent cookie can store details about the User’s preferences or choices, such as the User’s user ID, or the contents of a shopping cart. A persistent cookie is stored on the User’s browser until the User deletes the cookie.
First-Party Cookies track behavior within the confines of a Site. They help understand the User’s interests, and offer the User improved functionality and a smoother experience when visiting a Site.
Third-Party Cookies are set by our partners, suppliers, or service providers. For example, the use of Google Analytics requires the use of Google code that is included in our Site coding and is send to the User’s browser to allow the compilation of information on visits to and from our Site.
How to Manage Cookies
