User Submissions and Conduct
By accepting these Terms of Use, you agree not to:
Post content or initiate communications that are unlawful, libelous, abusive, obscene, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable, as well as post material that encourages conduct by others that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
Use our websites to post commercial solicitations, except where explicitly allowed.

Monitoring and Enforcement
BIC staff reserves the right to monitor information uploaded to the site as well as posts to our forums or blogs, and will remove any content deemed to be in violation of these Terms of Use. If you find user-supplied content on the site that you believe is in violation of the Terms of Use, you can flag it for review by site administrators by submitting a Contact Us form with the URL of the page. Flagged content will be reviewed by BIC staff, who will make the final determination as to whether it is in violation of these Terms of Use.
Account Termination
BIC reserves the right to determine whether user-supplied content is appropriate and complies with these terms and conditions, as outlined in the User Submissions and Conduct section above.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify BIC, its trustees, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all liabilities, expenses (including attorneys’ fees), and damages arising out of claims resulting from your use of the websites, your violation of these terms and conditions, and any claim that one of your submissions caused damage to a third party.
Disclaimer of Warranty and Limitation of Liability
The websites are provided on an “as is,” “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, those of MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE or NON-INFRINGEMENT or any warranty arising from a course of dealing, usage, or trade practice. This agreement between you and BIC will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Privacy policy
BIC promotes an open exchange of information, including mistakes made and lessons learned. To create a safe platform in which to exchange ideas and disseminate information or knowledge on practices, BIC and its members demand a mutual respect for privacy, strict confidentiality of proprietary information, and copyright protection.
Our promise to you
BIC will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit BIC websites unless you affirmatively choose to provide such information.
What information is collected about me when I visit BIC websites? How is it used?
When you visit our site, we automatically collect and store only the following information about you, none of which is personally identifiable:
Your host name or IP address
The domain from which you access our site
The day, month, and year you access our site.
Your Device user agent identity (providing browser type, operating system type)
We use this information to calculate the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to future visitors. We do not sell or transfer to third parties any of the information collected automatically from every visitor.
What about “cookies”?
BIC uses cookies to store and track certain information about you. A cookie is a small amount of data sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. If you browse BIC websites with the cookies option turned off, you may not be able to use various features of our sites.
Does BIC sell its mailing list?
No. BIC will exchange mailing lists with carefully screened organizations to assure that visitors who expressed interest in reoccurring communications, have the widest knowledge of available opportunities for continuing education, conferences, conventions, meetings, publications, technical services, and other topics likely to be of interest and value. BIC will at its sole discretion determine the acceptability of information that falls within the categories described above.
It is BIC’s policy that such promotions should not be political in nature, should not solicit donations, and should not contravene BIC policies or contain information that would allow a recipient to identify the identity or sources of the list.
Miscellaneous—This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Florida. If any part of this Privacy Policy is determined to be invalid or unenforceable pursuant to applicable law, then the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision and the remainder of this Privacy Policy shall continue in force and effect.

BIC owns and operates a number of Sites. While it is impossible to list all of the cookies used on each of these Sites, these cookies can be arranged in the following categories:

BIC’s primary analytics service is Google Analytics, operated by Google, Inc. Advertising Cookies
A Site may display advertisements or other postings that are operated by third parties, such as ad networks. Video Cookies
The videos embedded in our Sites are stored with third party service providers such as You Tube or Vimeo, Third party digital markers from these service providers enable visitors to see and interact with these videos. BIC has no contract over these digital markers; their use is subject to the privacy policy of the respective service providers.
Local Shared Objects
Local Shared Objects, or “flash cookies,” are used to store the User’s preferences and settings, such as volume or mute settings, and in connection with animated content.
Local Shared Objects are similar to browser cookies, but can store data more complex than simple text. By themselves, they cannot do anything to, or with, the data on a User’s computer. Like other cookies, they can only access personally identifiable information that you have provided on a Site, and cannot be accessed by other websites.

Pixel Tags
BIC Sites use pixel tags (also known as web beacons or clear gifs), which are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, that are placed in the code of a webpage. Tags are used to understand Users’ traffic in order to measure the effectiveness of content on a Site, improve the performance of a Site and the User’s experience.
BIC uses pixel tags to monitor the traffic patterns on a Site, to understand how a User came to a Site (e.g. from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website) and how the User uses the Site, or determine which BIC emails the User has opened.
General Information about Cookies
Cookies can be categorized in several ways:
Session Cookies exist only for the length of time that a User spends on a Site, while the User is reading and navigating the Site. When the User closes his browser, all Session Cookies are automatically deleted.
Persistent Cookies remain in the browser, and are not deleted after the browser is closed. A persistent cookie can store details about the User’s preferences or choices, such as the User’s user ID, or the contents of a shopping cart. A persistent cookie is stored on the User’s browser until the User deletes the cookie.
First-Party Cookies track behavior within the confines of a Site. They help understand the User’s interests, and offer the User improved functionality and a smoother experience when visiting a Site.
Third-Party Cookies are set by our partners, suppliers, or service providers. For example, the use of Google Analytics requires the use of Google code that is included in our Site coding and is send to the User’s browser to allow the compilation of information on visits to and from our Site.
